Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced that she plans to provide travel services to illegal immigrants who are trying to reunite with their families after unlawfully crossing the border into the United States.
Clinton attended OZY Fest in New York City on Saturday where she was interviewed by Laurene Powell Jobs, the founder of the Emerson Collective, a left-wing social impact enterprise.
In order to get involved and help illegal families, Clinton advised the crowd to donate to charities that would provide Spanish speaking social workers and lawyers, among other aid.
Clinton also asked people to reach out to her directly if they worked for an airline with the hopes that they could get a cheaper plane tickets to fly illegal immigrants to their children.
“I’m going to be tweeting about this in the days to come … If any of you work for an airline, I hope you’ll let me know,” Clinton said to the crowd.
“Direct message me because we need to get vouchers and discounted tickets to bring these families back together across that thousand miles.”
When she was asked about her early influences and how those influences shaped her perspectives, Clinton responded with a childhood memory of babysitting migrants while their parents worked in the fields.
She also said the government should “find ways where we giveeveryone a chance” because that is what America stands for.
