Best Things To Do With Food And Drink In Tampa Bay This Weekend

CL’s latest rundown of what to do and where to go for good food and drink this weekend is giving us serious summertime vibes. Hop to it.

• In honor of Friday the 13th (yup, that’s today), Tom+Chee discounts one of its comfort food favorites for the superstitious. Customers who stop by anytime between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. have the opportunity to build their own $2 Classic Grilled Cheese — bread and all, even the gluten-free kind — for $2. There’s no limit on how many sandos patrons can purchase, and that’s obviously good luck, right? Free, money for food. 6802 22nd Ave. N., St. Petersburg. 727-317-4790.

• Intermezzo Coffee & Cocktails teams up with Joel Eastlick, owner and master roaster of St. Pete-based Eastlick Coffee, on a side-by-side for Saturday’s Public Coffee Cupping, a tasting of fine coffees. Starting at 10 a.m., Eastlick leads the one-hour discussion of roasting methods, regions and processing methods. Last month’s cupping at Intermezzo had a solid turnout, which is why space is limited this time around. If their attendance is guaranteed, guests are asked to RSVP online. Free. 1111 Central Ave., St. Petersburg. 727-342-0156.

• CL is kinda thinking it doesn’t get much better than pizza and plants in the summer. Head to the next workshop from O’Berry’s Succulents at Hampton Station — Vintage Succulent Planter + Propagation — for an afternoon of ceramics, cacti and succulents from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Leaving with a mini-succulent kit and guide, participants create their own soil while founder Jamie O’Berry talks plant care. Find tickets online. $45. 5921 N. Nebraska Ave., Tampa. 813-238-1114.

Egg & Kegs #62 is a Thai-inspired brunch collaboration between Cigar City Brewing and LOKO Cuisine, hosted from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the beloved brewery. A trio of exclusive IPA treatments from Cigar City — Jai Alai (lemongrass, Thai basil and chili), Pants, Pants Pant (coconut and kaffir lime) and Space Pope (Buddha’s hand citrus and ginger) — accompany the four-course menu, which is sweet, salty, sour and spicy. Oh, and self-serve. As is tradition, Ginger Beard Coffee provides the nitro-infused Thai java and tea. Tickets, which are up online, include a pint, snifter of equal value or wine. $32.10. 3924 W. Spruce St., Tampa. 813-348-6363.

• Also on Sunday, beer buffs are encouraged to showcase their skills with cookout dishes, everything from veggies to meat, during the Zephyrhills Brewing Company’s Cookout Cuisine Competition Benefit. Those who are competing (and space is limited, so email info@zbcbeer.com) are asked to bring enough food for at least 30 samples — and label their entries with an ingredient list to avoid any allergy issues. While there’s $100 in prizes at stake, the benefit from 4 to 5 p.m. also helps support Meals on Wheels of Pasco. Wanna spectate rather than duke it out? Make a donation to Meals on Wheels — or buy a pint — to judge the contenders, then cast a ballot. $5 donation, or full pour of house beer. 38530 Fifth Ave., Zephyrhills. 813-715-2683.
