SYRACUSE, N.Y. — A second video of a Syracuse University fraternity’s “satirical sketch” has been published.
The Daily Orange, the student newspaper at SU, published the video Saturday night.
Theta Tau, an engineering fraternity at SU, was permanently expelled Saturday by the university for its conduct at a fraternity roast or sketch caught on another video.
The Daily Orange released the first video on Wednesday after the university announced the fraternity was suspended for racist, sexist, anti-Semitic, homophobic and anti-disabled actions caught on the video.
The second video shows fraternity members miming the sexual assault of a disabled person.
“He’s drooling out of his mouth, because he’s retarded in a wheelchair,” one person says. “So the hole is already very lubricated.”
“Yankee is totally unaware of this light rape that’s occurring,” one person says, later.
The first video sparked a student protest and a student-led discussion in Hendricks Chapel on Wednesday after the university suspended the fraternity. Students also held a sit-in at the Schine Student Center on Friday.
The fraternity issued a statement overnight Thursday, apologizing for the roast, saying it was meant to satirize a fellow fraternity member.
University officials said they are still investigating the videos and how they will handle individual students’ roles in the roast.
