CLAIM: Elizabeth Warren may consider running for president after midterms
AP’S ASSESSMENT: It’s true. Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren said she’ll take a “hard look at running for president” after the midterm elections in November.
THE FACTS:
During a town hall in western Massachusetts on Saturday, an attendee asked Warren if she had plans to run for president.
The Democratic senator replied that it was now time “for women to go to Washington to fix our broken government, and that includes a woman at the top.”
Warren, a frequently outspoken critic of President Trump, has long been rumored to take on Trump in the 2020 election cycle.
Sen. Warren is running for re-election against GOP state Rep. and Trump 2016 Massachusetts campaign co-chairman Geoff Diehl in November.
