BOSTON – The Professional Fire Fighters of MA (PFFM) have endorsed Lori Trahan for U.S. Congress, 3rd MA Congressional District. The endorsement vote occurred September 21st with more than 300 union leaders in attendance at a PFFM meeting.

“Lori Trahan will be an excellent addition to our hard-working delegation in D.C.,” said Richard MacKinnon Jr., President of the PFFM.  “During a time of political divisiveness, we look forward to Lori’s leadership to find common ground and fight for working families. As the daughter of a union steelworker, being raised with the values of a working-class family, she understands that unions provide families with stable benefits and income, at a time of unprecedented income inequality.”

“The SAFER and AFG federal grant programs are vital to firefighter staffing and firefighter health and safety. Lori understands the importance of these programs to public safety and will be a strong advocate for continued funding. The Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts – and our 12,000 members and thousands of retirees – are proud to endorse Lori Trahan for U.S. Congress,” MacKinnon continued.

“Every day, firefighters are putting their lives on the line to protect our homes and our families. We saw their commitment and bravery during the recent gas fires in Lawrence, when hundreds of firefighters from all over Massachusetts came in to help their brethren and our communities without hesitation,” Trahan said. “We must do everything to protect our firefighters as they protect us. In Congress, I will fight for the funding and grants they deserve. I thank the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts for its support and look forward to working with its 12,000 members.”
