President Trump takes on fake news, touts regulation rollbacks at CPAC speech

NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. (Gray DC) — President Trump receiving a warm welcome from attendees at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).

It’s the place where he made one of his first political speeches years ago. And, the rest is history.

“All of these years, we’ve been together. And now, you finally have a president. Finally. It took you a long time,” said the president.

The president spending the first part of his speech railing against fake news, which he calls the “enemy of the people.” He says journalists shouldn’t be allowed to use anonymous sources.

“Many of these groups are part of the large media corporations that have their own agenda. And it’s not your agenda. And it’s not the country’s agenda,” he said.

The president then moving into policy – saying he’s delivering on his campaign promises: building a border wall, reducing violent crime, withdrawing from the Trans-Pacific Partnership, and repealing Obamacare.

President Trump also touting rolling back regulations. The president signing another executive order Friday requiring federal agencies establish a Regulatory Reform Task Force.

“We’re going to put the regulation industry out of work and out of business,” he said.

The president clarifying the importance of environmental and safety regulations, but saying many are repetitive and hurt companies and jobs.

The last Republican president to attend CPAC during his first year in office was Ronald Reagan back in 1981. President Trump says he will be back .
