(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) In a recent op-ed about Texas Republican Mayra Flores, the New York Times and its editorial board exposed their racist leanings.
Flores recently became the first Republican to represent Texas‘ Rio Grande Valley in more than a century after her recent victory in a special election.
Her win was largely due to her following in the wake of former President Donald Trump, who made historical gains among Hispanics in recent years.
But instead of praising Flores effusively, as the Times does with fellow Latina congresswoman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, they decided to label her as a “far-right Latina” despite the fact that she just flipped one of the nation’s bluest districts by appealing to a broad base.

Of course, the Left has long had an obsession with making normal people seem like radical right-wing extremists.
Flores’ campaign slogan was “God, family, country”–an appeal to Christianity and basic patriotism. Showing the same fighting spirit that helped her win a historic election, Flores shot back at the Times.
“I have received only hate from the liberal media and constantly [been] told by the left to go back to Mexico,” Flores told Fox News.
“They don’t support us, immigrants, they only use us for political power and don’t care about our well-being. I am here now and I won’t allow them to continue taking advantage of my people.
The NYT knows nothing about me or our culture.”Many on Twitter mocked the mainstream media hacks at the Times for their absurd and contradictory takes on AOC and Flores.
AOC won her election in a district where a broom handle with a D after its name could have won.
Mayra Flores flipped a seat that hasn’t gone GOP in over a century.
AOC gets rock star coverage, Flores is treated as extreme.

“AOC won her election in a district where a broom handle with a D after its name could have won,” one Twitter user wrote.
“Mayra Flores flipped a seat that hasn’t gone GOP in over a century. AOC gets rock star coverage, Flores is treated as extreme.”
Others suggested that the newspaper’s fear of normal Americans is the underlying cause of such absurd headlines.
NYTimes is not out of touch. They’re scared. Very scared. They know @MayraFlores2022 authentically represents the God-fearing values of vast majority of Hispanic-Americans. @AOC is a “Latinx” (whatever that is!) socialista. Hispanics hate socialism & her woke, secular values. https://t.co/FnjUJ7seae
