Massachusetts Police Association Endorses Geoff Diehl for U.S. Senate

The Massachusetts Police Association has endorsed Republican Geoff Diehl in his campaign for U.S. Senate.

Members of the MPA endorsed State Rep. Diehl during an event honoring police at the 1620 Hotel in Plymouth on Thursday.

“It’s obviously an incredible honor to have your endorsement and support, and I hope you know that when I’m Washington as your U.S. Senator, you’re going to continue to have my support for the entire six years that I am serving,” Diehl told the association members.

US Senate race: Elizabeth Warren, Geoff Diehl spar over Puerto Rico hurricane response, public discourse at Springfield debate

U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Massachusetts, and Republican challenger Geoff Diehl sparred over gun control, marijuana industry regulations and the federal response to hurricanes in Puerto Rico Sunday as they met in Springfield for their second debate before the November election.

Diehl said he had also received endorsements from the New Bedford and Taunton Police Unions on Thursday also, saying it had been “an extremely special day.”

In less than two weeks the state will decide its next U.S. Senator: Diehl or incumbent and Democrat Elizabeth Warren. The two have sparred in two debates, and another is planned for Tuesday, Oct. 30.

While accepting the MPA endorsement on Thursday, Diehl took aim at Warren for weighing a 2020 presidential run, saying the senator “seems to be auditioning for a job she doesn’t even want.”

Elizabeth Warren stands by claim that US criminal justice system is ‘racist’

Despite facing criticism from GOP opponents, U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Massachusetts, remained firm this week on her claim that the American criminal justice system is “racist … front to back.”

Diehl also criticized Warren’s recent remarks saying the American criminal justice system is “racist … front to back.” Warren has stood by her claims that the country’s justice system needs “significant” reform, pointing to disparities between the arrests of white and black Americans for similar crimes.

“Her difference of opinion on law enforcement I think is really astonishing,” Diehl said. He said  “Not saying who is or who isn’t racist, a blanket indictment of everybody including law enforcement, I think those issues that she’s brought up herself are a real problem,” Diehl said.

Diehl is scheduled to speak to police members honored at the MPA event in Plymouth Thursday afternoon.
