Fry-fanatics, rejoice: McDonald’s has responded to your pleas with its best promotion to date.
Since launching its delivery service in the United States earlier this summer, the fast-food giant has been doing the most to promote its mobile app. Its latest deal just might make overcrowding your phone worth it.
Food & Wine reports that McDonald’s will be giving away free fries every Friday for the rest of 2018. To be eligible, customers must spend at least $1 on another menu item and do their ordering through the app. According to Inc., the promotion can only be used once per day, but there’s no limit on the number of consecutive weeks you stop in for your complimentary fix.
And it gets even better. McDonald’s will also be offering free sodas on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and a free coffee drink after purchasing five others (Starbucks better watch out). Inc. writes that the app-based deals are the restaurant’s latest effort to attract young customers. Last fall, the company reported that 30 million people had downloaded the app; however, only nine million were active users. Judging by the amount of free food and drinks they’re giving away, McDonald’s is clearly aiming to up that number as quickly as possible.
I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’ll be setting a weekly reminder on my phone in order to take advantage of all that Fryday has to offer. (See what I did there?)
