During an event with Native American war heroes in the Oval Office, President Donald Trump again referred to Sen. Elizabeth Warren as “Pocahontas.”
He has been slammed by Native American groups in the past for using the term when referring to the Massachusetts Democrat.
“You were here long before any of us were here. Although we have a representative in Congress who they say was here a long time ago. They call her ‘Pocahontas,’” Trump said.
Warren has claimed her family has Cherokee and Delaware Indian ancestry but has been criticized for not providing documentation. Trump has used the term since the 2016 presidential campaign.
Native American lawmakers, advocacy groups and others have slammed this practice, accusing President Trump and candidate Trump of using a racial slur.
That criticism has not deterred Trump, who last publicly dropped the term in a Nov. 3 tweet.
Pocahontas just stated that the Democrats, lead by the legendary Crooked Hillary Clinton, rigged the Primaries! Lets go FBI & Justice Dept.
