Following the lead of their masters in Hollywood, Democrat congresswomen are going to engage in another ridiculous form of protest during President Donald Trump’s first State of the Union speech on Jan. 30.
California Democrat lawmaker Jackie Speier, speaking for House Democrats, called on her colleagues to wear black during the speech in solidarity with women who have been sexually harassed or abused. It is the same protest that the elitists in Hollywood engaged in at the Golden Globe Awards last week.
“My colleagues and I in the @HouseDemWomen are calling on our fellow MoCs – women & men, Democrats & Republicans – to wear black to this year’s #SOTU in solidarity w/survivors of sexual harassment/violence in Hollywood, politics, the military, academia,” she wrote.
I hope @farenthold keeps his promise to payback the $83,000 in taxpayer funds used to cover his #harassment settlement. Taxpayers should NEVER foot the bill when Members of Congress can’t keep their hands to themselves.

“This is a culture change that is sweeping the country, and Congress is embracing it,” she told the Huffington Post.
And if any party should wear black for the victims of sexual abuse it is the Democrats, as they are responsible for the majority of the victimizing.
Former President Bill Clinton famously had an affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky but he also was accused of sexually harassing, groping and raping many other women.
Sen. Al Franken had to resign after being caught in a photo grabbing the breasts of a sleeping Playboy model, Leeann Tweeden, during a USO tour. Days after that revelation, and the accusation that he forced a kiss on her, more women came forward to accuse Sen. Franken of groping them, which resulted in his resignation.
In December, Rep. John Conyers had to step away from his long reign in the House after many women came forward to describe inappropriate sexual assaults and harassment by the now 87-year-old Congressman.
Former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer resigned after a scandal involving a Russian prostitute. And last week he was back in the news after an audio recording is alleged to show that he threatened to kill the woman for destroying his life.
And in one of the most egregious cases, former New York Rep. Anthony Weiner, who had several scandals that involved him showing his weiner to women, is serving a 21-month sentence for sexting an underage girl.
If the reason Democrats are choosing to wear black is to show their sorrow for the havoc their party has wreaked on women dating back to the days of former President Kennedy, then it makes sense.
But that is not the reason they have chosen to wear black to the State of the Union.
“What we want is to really continue the conversation about sexual harassment in the workplace, about disparity of salaries where people work in the same job, and also getting paid for the value of your work,” Rep. Lois Frankel said.
“I don’t expect to see diamonds or a lot of flesh,” she said, according to The Hill.
Not a lot of flesh from Rep. Nancy Pelosi? That will be a disappointment to no one.
Members of the Democratic Women’s Working Group had been discussing ideas for a coordinated effort around the State of the Union after wearing white — the color of suffragettes — to Trump’s first joint address to Congress last year. They settled on wearing black after watching the Golden Globes on Sunday.
Female Democrats are hoping that their display of black will help bring the “Me Too” conversation about rooting out sexual misconduct and women’s issues to Trump’s State of the Union on Jan. 30.
Rep. Lois Frankel (D-Fla.), the chairwoman of the Democratic Women’s Working Group, said she also expects to give her guest ticket in the House chamber gallery to a person involved in the “Me Too” movement, but hasn’t decided whom to invite yet.
