On January 1, 2018, The Adult Use of Marijuana Act took effect in California. The act legalized the possession and use of marijuana in the state, but it does not justify service members violating federal law.
Marines and Department of Defense employees are prohibited from smoking or possessing marijuana, and anyone bringing the drug aboard Camp Pendleton may face debarment, or removal from base housing.
