Bus Driver Did Nothing While Girl With Special Needs Was Bitten

The parents of a ten-year-old girl with special needs are demanding answers as to why the bus driver did nothing to stop another student who was “brutally” biting their daughter while she was strapped into a five-point harness. Lynn Waldron-Moehle and Chad Waldron say that when their daughter Lillian got off the bus, she was in tears and grabbing her arm.

Lynn was unable to calm down Lillian, who was incapable of describing what happened because of her disability. She decided to give her daughter a bath, hoping that it would help calm her down. That’s when she realized why her daughter was inconsolable.

“She loves baths, and that’s soothing to her. So, I brought her home, and I was getting her ready for the bath. I took her sweatshirt off, and that’s when I noticed the major bruising on her upper arm,” Waldron-Moehle told WBAY-TV.

The couple reported the incident to officials at Langlade Elementary School in Green Bay, and when district officials reviewed the surveillance footage, they could not believe what they saw. The school’s principal told them the footage was “gruesome and horrifying to look at,” and promised to conduct a full investigation into what happened.

“She can’t tell them to stop. She couldn’t get away. She’s in a five-point harness car seat. She just had to sit there and take it, and the bus driver wasn’t stopping,” Waldron-Moehle said.

School officials say that the child who bit Lillian no longer attends the school, and the young girl will be transported to school in a van with two adults and no other students. Her parents want the district to do more to ensure her safety and are considering filing a lawsuit against the school.

“If you can’t keep an eye on these kids and they are special needs, then you need to bring somebody in to be watching if the bus driver can’t do it,” Waldron said.
