Update: Two Shot During Dawson Road Home Invasion

 

 

Worcester, MA (April 16, 2017) – Investigators have identified the suspect involved in the Dawson Road shooting. The suspect was arrested at the hospital early this morning as he was being treated for a gunshot wound.

The suspect, Mr. Marc Aldana, 24-years-old of 88 Moscow Road, Holden, was charged with Armed Burglary, Armed Assault with the Intent to Murder, Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Unlawful Carrying a Firearm, Unlawful Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony and Possession of a Firearm.

Due to his injuries and current medical condition, Mr. Aldana will be arraigned at a time yet to be determined.

Investigators have been working on this incident throughout the night. The Dawson Road home was secured by police while investigators obtain a search warrant for the premises.

Investigators were told that both men are expected to survive from their injuries. The male resident received a grazing wound to his head and was shot in the arm. The suspect was shot in the groin area.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the male and female resident came home last night and realized that their home had been broken into. The house appeared to be ransacked. Upon observing the condition of the home, the male resident went and armed himself. Meanwhile the female encountered the suspect on the first floor. The female was forced to the basement by the suspect. The female injured her ankle as she rushed towards the basement. At this time the suspect and the male resident encountered each other in the basement. The two exchanged gunfire there.

Investigators continue to work on a potential second suspect. There is limited information on a description at this time.

Investigators believe that this may not have been a random incident.

On Saturday, April 15, 2017 at approximately 10:05 PM, Worcester Police responded to a Dawson Road address for a reported home invasion. Responding officers were informed that there was a male shot and that the intruder(s) may still be at the scene. Upon the officers arrival they observed a male lying on the ground by the side entrance of the home. The male was suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower extremity. The male was semi-conscious and said very little.

Officers learned that two more victim were located in the basement of the home. The two in the basement were the residents of the home. A 21-year-old female was suffering from a minor injury to her ankle while the 24-year-old male was suffering from a serious gunshot wound.

Officers were told that the male outside by the side door was a suspect in the home invasion.

Both males were treated at the scene by Worcester EMS and members of the Worcester Fire Department and then transported to a local hospital.

The condition of the two males is unknown at this time.

Police at the scene were told that the male suspect approached the side door and demanded to enter the home. The male had made threats with a gun. The male resident of the home exchanged gunfire with the suspect resulting in both being hit.

The female stated that she ran downstairs towards the basement when she injured her ankle.

Officers received information that there was a possible second suspect that ran off after the exchange of gunfire. Officers received conflicting descriptions of the possible second suspect. Several police officers conducted a search but the results were negative at this time.

WPD detectives and members of the Crime Scene Unit arrived at the home. Evidence was collected while investigators canvassed the neighborhood and spoke with witnesses.
