KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Sport Clips Haircuts made a record-breaking $830,000 donation to the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States (VFW) today to support active duty U.S. service members’ and veterans’ scholarships. Sport Clips clients and product partner donations, as well as Veterans Day contributions of $1 per haircut service, made the franchise’s annual “Help A Hero” campaign the most successful in program history. Established in 2007, Sport Clips’ original Help A Hero-focus was on providing phone calls home for deployed and hospitalized military, and now, primarily benefits the VFW’s “Sport Clips Help A Hero Scholarship” program.

Sport Clips Help A Hero Scholarships, of up to $5,000 each, are administered through the VFW to qualified, active–duty military and veterans who wish to pursue college degrees and vocational certifications. To date, more than $1.1 million in scholarships have been given, and an additional 133 scholarships will be awarded in the semester ahead.
“It’s rewarding to know that right now, there are service members and veterans all across the U.S. enrolled in training programs, colleges and graduate programs with the help of VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero Scholarships,” says Sport Clips Founder and CEO Gordon Logan, a U.S. Air Force veteran and lifetime member of the VFW. “The reason Sport Clips is able to say ‘thank you’ to our military in this way is because of the hard work of team members and our very generous clients and product partners. We’re grateful and gratified for their part in this Help A Hero scholarship donation.”
“We’re truly grateful to the entire Sport Clips team, as well as to its partners for their hard work and extreme generosity,” said VFW National Commander John A. Biedrzycki Jr. “This vital scholarship program continues to help ensure America’s veterans are able to obtain the higher education they deserve.”
Sport Clips is the Official Haircutter of the VFW, and its Help A Hero campaign is just one of the many ways it supports active-duty military and veterans. To find out more, visit your local Sport Clips or SportClips.com.
