November Surprise: Senators, Congressmen Call For Hearings into FBI Conduct
Senator Al Franken, member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, is asking for Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) director James Comey to answer questions about leaks from the FBI New York field office and Comey’s potential involvement in a conspiracy to negatively affect the outcome of the 2016 election for Hillary Clinton.
Speaking on CNN, Franken said: “I’m on the Judiciary Committee. I’m sure we will have meetings. FBI Director Comey will be before us. And he should answer questions.”
Franken went on to say: “Even more troubling is what we’ve heard from sort of the rogue elements of the FBI seemingly tipping off former (New York City) Mayor (Rudy) Giuliani that something was up. I mean, it just seems like — that’s not the FBI.”
Interestingly, in an appearance on Fox News which aired just two days before Comey delivered the October 28th letter to the House Oversight and Judiciary Committee (HOJC), Rudy Giuliani, senior advisor to the Donald Trump campaign revealed that “something big” was coming in the “next couple of days” and it would help Trump “turn things around”.
And in another interview, Giuliani boasted about receiving information from the FBI using former agents to launder for him, saying: “Did I hear about it? You’re darn right I heard about it.”
This eerie prediction prompted Congressman Elijah Cummings, ranking member of the HOJC to write an open letter to the Department of Justice (DoJ), asking the agency to investigate Giuliani and the NY field office of the FBI for being “a conduit to the Trump campaign”.
Cummings wrote: “These unauthorized and inaccurate leaks from within the FBI, particularly so close to a presidential election, are unprecedented. For these reasons, we are calling on your office to conduct a thorough investigation to identify the sources of these and other leaks from the FBI and to recommend appropriate action.”
Franken told CNN: “We will have hearings. I’m sure that FBI Director Comey will be before us. I think he should be able to answer questions about this, and he should be able to control the FBI.”
One potential surrogate for Giuliani is former NY FBI field office agent Jim Kallstrom who ran that location in the 1990s. Interestingly, Kallstrom now runs the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation (MCLEF), the only organization to receive money from the Trump organization. In fact, the MCLEF is the single biggest beneficiary of Trump’s promise to raise millions for veterans when he boycotted the Iowa primary debate.
For full disclosure, Trump sits as the vice president of the MCLEF, and Kallstrom has publicly endorsed the republican nominee for president.
Another problem the FBI, Comey and Giuliani are facing is how the NY field office was able to use the book Clinton Cash to justify opening a local investigation into Hillary and the Clinton Foundation.
Peter Schweizer, author of the book Clinton Cash, was interviewed by the FBI going back a year ago when the investigation began in NY, and bragged on Fox News that his book was used as an “investigative road map” for FBI agents looking to prove corruption occurred at the democratic nominee’s foundation.
Schweizer is currently sitting CEO at Breitbart News, a conspiracy-driven website known as “the platform of the alt-right”, but also acts as president of the Government Accountability Institute (GAI), a fringe right think-tank that claims to investigate and expose crony capitalism and government corruption, but all this organization has ever done is produce the book Clinton Cash.
The author of Clinton Cash is running Breitbart while Steve Bannon is fulfilling his role as campaign CEO of Donald Trump. Bannon is not only a member of the GAI, but paid for a movie version of Schwiezer’s book to be produced and currently distributes the film on Breitbart News for free in exchange for the user’s email address.
