Jack Rose Serves Classic Cajun, Creole And Cocktails In The Pontchartrain Hotel

The historic Pontchartrain Hotel is home to a new Cajun/Creole restaurant called Jack Rose, located at 2031 St. Charles Ave., in Central City.

Inspired by the hotel’s relation with Tennessee Williams, the establishment is named for his play, The Rose Tattoo.

The dishes are influenced by French, Spanish and Italian styles, so look for the squid ink campanelle, roast duck with bellegarde grits and fried chicken parmesan with red gravy. The beverage list features a rendition of the old-timey Jack Rose cocktail that includes whiskey calvados, pomegranate, rose, citrus and egg white.

The restaurant also offers a private dining room and Sunday brunch.

Jack Rose has proven popular thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of seven reviews on Yelp.

Chloe K., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on May 1, said, “Excellent! I can’t think of a reason to take any stars away. The seating and lounge area are beautiful, fun and relaxing. The food and drinks were delicious. I had their signature drink, the Jack Rose, and really enjoyed it. ”
